Artist Reception at Local Museum

Artist Reception at Local Museum

Laxgalts’ap-  Nisga’a Museum will be having an Artist reception and talk, this is a chance for members of the community, including artists to meet and welcome Krista-Belle to the Nass Valley as she embarks on her two and half week residency here in the beautiful Nass Valley. Please join us here at the Nisga’a Museum on

October 26, 2014 from 1 – 3 pm

A key component to this residency is community engagement and participation. We need YOU to help make this project a success.

Stewart’s project is centered on narrative and storytelling. She is curious to explore, learn about and listen to stories/oral histories about Nisga’a people, their life and connection to the land. Investigating how these stories are being preserved in the community, how they are shared, how community members talk about the past. Out of these community engagements Stewart is interested in developing a video based work. We are interested in engaging with senior youth (16-25) and elders in the Nass Valley who could participate in this research project and in the production of this artwork.

Krista Belle will also host a series of workshops where youth could explore some of these local stories and produce their own videos.

Light snacks are being provided.
