CAMPFIRE BAN RESCINDED

OPEN FIRE BAN STILL IN EFFECT

In order to limit the risk of starting forest fires, effective immediately July 2, 2015 all open burning prohibition will remain in effect until September 20, 2015.

Effective Wednesday July 22, 2015, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

The following activites will be allowed:

  • campfires (no larger than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide)

  • outdoor stoves and other portable campfire apparatuses

  • tiki torches, burn barrels and chimineas

Category 2 and 3 opening burning is prohibited, fireworks and firecrackers will remain prohibited to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety on Nisga’a Lands.

These restrictions are published under the authority of Section 57(3)(a)(i) of the Nisga’a Forest Act.
