2016 BC Aboriginal Provincial Volleyball Camps

 

The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation & Physical Activity Partners Council is pleased to present

 

2016 BC Aboriginal Provincial Volleyball Camps

 

Aboriginal youth volleyball players born 1998 to 2003 are invited to attend one of these camps sanctioned by Volleyball BC and supported by the Province Of BC. The camps will serve as ATHLETE IDENTIFICATION EVENTS to form "Team BC Development Squads" to train for and pursue participation in the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) held in Toronto, Ontario from July 16 to 23, 2017.

Athletes nominated to the Team BC Volleyball Development Squads will be expected to continue training on their own in the off-season and attend a mandatory spring training camp where the final Team BC NAIG roster members will be selected. The Team BC Athlete Selection Process document for volleyball will be released to participants via email.

PLEASE NOTE we are pursuing a U19 MALE volleyball team for the 2017 NAIG! Team BC is seeking male volleyball athletes born 1998 through 2003 to try out!

Registration for these 2016 BC Aboriginal Volleyball Camps are open to eligible participants. No pre-qualification required.

 

Eligibility:

  • The following 2017 NAIG age categories will be offered for this Team BC athlete identification event:
    • U19 FEMALE (born 1998 & later)
    • U19 MALE (born 1998 & later*)
    • U16 FEMALE (born 2001 & later*)

    *For safety reasons, Team BC is seeking youth born no later than 2003.

    To be eligible, athletes must be a resident of BC. Open to First Nations, Aboriginal, Metis, Inuit athletes. Proof of ancestry required (declaration of ancestry option available).

 

Thanks to the support of our host partners, including Prince George Native Friendship Centre, Squamish First Nation, Nak’azdli Friendship Centre and Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre, Volleyball BC, and the Province of BC, the cost of the 2-day camp is just $25!  Snack and lunches are included.
