6.7 earthquake rattles area off northern Vancouver Island; no tsunami expected | CTV News

Yesterday, there was a seismic event of 6.7 in magnitude near Vancouver Island.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, no damage, and no Tsunami.

But it is a reminder that we at Nisga'a Nation must remain prepared personally and as communities.

So if are experiencing a seismic event, remember to:

1. drop,

2. take cover, and

3. hold on.

If you are near an at-risk area, remember a seismic event may be your only warning of an impending Tsunami, so consider if you will need to evacuate to high ground.

Finally, at a minimum have your 72 hour emergency kit ready.
