Book launch at N.E.S.S. bridges the generations
On June 19, 2018 the Nisga’a Elementary Secondary School (N.E.S.S.) launched a book called ’Moving Toward the Mountains of Memory’.
9 Elders, 3 school staff and 12 Students collaborated with the Federation of BC Writers on a project called the Elders Project. Each of the students interviewed the elders and created poems from the interviews. The students also contributed to the artwork in the book.
During the book launch the students each read the poems they wrote with the support of the elders alongside. The students were gifted books to take home to share with their families. This project was supported by Jackie Borosa, Vice Principal of N.E.S.S.
