Conquering Cancer, one blessing at a time!

On Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Terrace, BC, Courtney Guno (originally from New Aiyansh) hosted an event called “Fundraiser to get to Vancouver” to assist with the travel costs to visit her mother Patti Smith who lives in Vancouver and was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery.

Courtney needed a way to raise funds to be able to pay for her travel down to visit her mother Patti while she is still undergoing cancer treatment.  What to do?

So Courtney decided to shave her head to raise funds - without even knowing whether there would be anyone else willing to also sacrifice their hair to support her cause.

As it turned out, another fifteen brave people came forward to shave their heads to fight cancer.  The participants were: Courtney Guno, Angela Clayton, Ross Clayton, Martina Clayton, Vance Scodane, Rachel Scodane, Heather Scodane, Anthony Scodane, Mitchel Scodane, Benjamin McNeil, Nathaniel Wilson, Nelson Guno, Kerry Evans and Georgia Dennis  - all who proudly shaved their heads to support this great cause.

The fifteenth person was Patti‚Äôs son Jeremy Guno who also shaved his head in Prince Rupert at the same time of the event. The Terrace Barbershop was gracious enough to donate their facility and time to also be in support of Courtney‚Äôs cause.  There were 55 people that attended the event and the amount raised was a grand total of $3,618.00.

Courtney would like to express her appreciation and many thanks not only to the people that contributed to her cause but to the participants who stood by her side to offer their support to fight cancer.  She will be departing to Vancouver, BC right on Mother‚Äôs Day (May 12, 2013) to visit her mother Patti Smith.

Way to go Courtney and participants, your efforts and sacrifice touched many hearts!
