On March 23, 2023, the first order of business at the Nisga'a Lisims Government Executive meeting was to conduct the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Council of Elders for the 2023-24 term. With Ganim Siwilyeenskw, Chairperson of the COE, Sim'oogit K'eexkw led the oath of office ceremony for both regular and alternate appointees. 

The Council is established pursuant to the Constitution of the Nisga'a Nation and the Nisga'a Government Act to nurture the spirit of the Nisga'a Nation; provide guidance to interpretation of the Ayuuk; and advise Nisga'a Government on matters relating to the traditional values of the Nisga'a Nation.
