Gingolx Working Together in Trying Times

From Alvin Nelson:

"I've never seen anything like this before.  Mother Nature is telling us that we should take care of her forests and to stop polluting the air.  Just shooting off here. Seriously, the community had over 140 individuals come out to help each other during tense times because for a while the thinking was that the rain in addition to the 24 foot tide would wash everything out.

At about 5PM, the community began experiencing flooding, home owners were terrified at what was happening.  Finally, Deputy Chief Councilor Henry Stephens announced the need for volunteers.  They quickly responded working very hard, preparing for the worse.

The homes along Riverside Street were the ones we were watching.  The Kincolith Creek was also threatening. The water coming down the mountain was extremely loud.  The rain was non-stop but our volunteers worked through it and were constantly fed coffee and refreshments as we went along.   The 140 volunteers also had many ladies out.  It was an inspiration seeing them carrying shovels over to help.

Don Doolan is our contact for road conditions and he has been giving the community updates according to highways.  The watch was on all night long.  This morning a loud noise was heard coming from the main creek behind the village, the ice may have started breaking up.  The rain has slowed down compared to yesterday and it has warmed up a bit.  The Public Works Maintenance Department are to be commended for their non-stop work with their machines and equipment on the job.
