Interim Detachment Commander takes post at Lisims Nass Valley RCMP

Outgoing Lisims Nass Valley Detachment Commander Sgt. James (Jim) Fenske was bid farewell in a luncheon at Nisga'a Lisims Government on January 22, 2016. 

On hand were Chair of the Public, Order, Peace and Safety (POPS) Committee and Gitwinksihlkw Chief Councillor, Ron Nyce; Chairperson of the Council of Elders Shirley Morven and NLG's programs and services staff.

In appreciation for his two years of service as Lisims Nass Valley RCMP Detachment Commander, Sgt. Fenske was presented with parting gifts that included a silver carved Hayatskw (coppershield) pendant. 

Also in attendance with Sgt. Fenske was the new interim Detachment Commander Sgt. Shawn McLaughlin.  Sgt. McLaughlin will oversee the Lisims Nass Valley RCMP detachment until the position is filled permanently through an RCMP-led selection process that will include the involvement of Chief Councillor Ron Nyce as POPS Committee Chair.  The selection process may be up to 9 months.
