• 39 members out of 128 participated and travelled to Calgary. Majority of the membership travelled 18 + km through BC interior making the necessary stops along the way, but the most memorable scenic stops was through 2 of Canada’s National Parks, Jasper and Banff -The Athabascan glacier, the waterfalls and the Rocky Mountains as many member have quoted “this was all so incredibly breath taking”. For most this was the first time they have been outside of BC.

• Despite the much too long bus ride, both buses traveling together and stopping together, and provided quality time to bond, to get to know each other, and just to be able to share memories and sights as a group -- it was heart-warming.

• The 2015 Annual Calgary Stampede is the second largest parade next to the Rose Bowl in North America. Majagaleehl was 1 of 130 entries into the parade and 1 of 15 in the Marching Band Category and placed 5th .

 • Majagaleehl Nisga’a members had to endure excruciating heat (38) along a 5.6 km parade route and high elevation at 3500 ft above sea level. Even though the trip was long, Majagaleehl performed professionally and represented the Nisga'a Nation with pride. Parade onlookers shouted to the membership as they pasted, “Welcome to Calgary!”, “Oh! The Nisga’a!!”, “Is this your first time here?”, “WELCOME!” as they hooted and hollered in support of the band. One spectator yelled out “Which Country are you from?” at which a member replied, “Canada! – We’re from British Columbia”. The spectator jumped and clapped to see Majagaleehl Nisga’a taking part in the parade.

 • The First Nations in the surrounding area of Calgary also shown their support and displayed their gratitude as members witnessed tears as they Marched by.

 • The Band members, even after a grueling trek, were upbeat considering how hot and long the parade was. If one was there to witness it all, you could say the band represented the Nation with professionalism.

 • Once again, Majagaleehl Nisga’a had participated and represented the Nisga’a Nation in another historic event that has continued to bring the four Nisga’a Communities together to work towards a common goal in the Spirit of Sayt-Kilim-Goot (One Heart, One Path, One Nation).
