My Health Survey - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

NLG is conducting the My Health Nisga'a Nation Health Survey about your health and wellness.

Some of you may have questions - here are some answers and further information to help you complete the survey:

WHEN SHOULD I COMPLETE THE SURVEY?

Complete the survey now, or as soon as possible. It will be only available until December 10, 2016.

WHY ANOTHER SURVEY?

  • It’s important to get the most current health related information and feedback from you and the entire Nisga’a Nation at one point in time – now is the best time.
  • The findings from older surveys are now out of date. Previous surveys did not focus on your health, health experiences, and behaviors to inform the legislated and comprehensive Health Services Review currently underway.
  • Findings from this survey will be known in the next two months and will help improve Nisga’a health programs and services in the very near future.

WHY SHOULD I COMPLETE THE SURVEY?

Because the best prize is your health. You are in charge of your spiritual, physical, mental social and emotional health. The survey forms a part of the work legislated by the Wilp Si’ayuukhl Nisga’a (WSN). Your feedback is crucial in helping shape existing and future health services for your health, the health of your family and that of your Nisga’a Nation.

ARE THERE PRIZES?

Yes!  Besides your health, you may enjoy winning one of these 14 prizes:

  • a generator (valued $1500-$2000),
  • 1 of 3 SAMSUNG Tablets (each $250),
  • 1 of 10 prizes of $100 Gift cards (groceries).

Prizes to be drawn approximately Dec. 19, 2016 from those who complete the survey and want to enter the contest. One survey and one prize entry per person maximum.

WHO SHOULD COMPLETE IT?

  • As many Nisga’a 13 years of age and older as possible.
  • Non-Nisga’a who access Nisga’a Valley Health Services

HOW CAN I SPREAD THE WORD?

More feedback is better than less. Encourage your Nisga'a friends, family members and others to take the survey. This includes the men, youth and elders in your family. Remind others at the dinner table, in gatherings, social conversations and other opportunities.

If you know someone who may not be aware because they do not or cannot get out of their home. For others, perhaps they have no home currently. Bring them a paper copy, guide them to a place where they can get support to take the survey, let us know NLGSurvey@INSITEConsultancy.com and we will work towards finding a way to assist them.

WHY 13 & OLDER?

  • Younger people’s experiences, health behaviors and views are important to get directly from them.
  • Consultations with various Nisga’a during planning meetings suggested that those age 13 and above are familiar with health surveys and health issues. Youth ages 13 to 16 years old, are advised to seek parental or guardian permission before completing the survey.
  • Questions that are not applicable can be skipped.
  • Children 12 and under are included under questions answered by a parent or guardian.

WILL ANYONE KNOW WHO I AM?

Your privacy will be protected and respected. The survey is being managed by INSITE Consultancy Ltd. (INSITE) under contract by Nisga'a Lisims Government (NLG).  To protect your identity, only the INSITE consultants will see your individual data.

You are not required to provide your name or contact details, unless you want to enter the prize draw. If you do enter the draw, your name and contact details will be removed from the survey immediately after the draw, and before any results are shared with NLG or the Nisga’a Valley Health Authority.

WHAT QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED:

  • You will be asked about your health and wellness, health care experiences, behaviors, your opinions and other standard survey questions. At the end of the survey you may make additional comments.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME?

  • "My Health Survey" only takes 20-30 minutes to complete, if you wish to write lots of comments, allow a little extra time.

CAN I SKIP A QUESTION?

  • You may skip any questions that are not applicable, if you have difficulty understanding the question or that you would rather not answer.

I’M TAKING THE SURVEY AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS COMPLETING IT - WHAT DO I DO?

Occasionally you could get stuck on a page of the survey and not be able to go forward.

  1. First go to the top of the page and see if there is an orange error message. Read the error message and review your answers to see if you misunderstood the instructions. Correct as instructed.
    1. Usually this means a question wasn’t answered “correctly.” For example select “two” choices. If you select three you may get an error message.
    2. Enter your answer(s) based on the warning or error message directions.
  2. Save your work by clicking on the bottom of the survey page. Also as another back-up, click Save & Continue Later. Enter an email address to send yourself a link just in case. You may also try deleting your responses to the question(s) highlighted and re-enter based on the warning or error message.
  3. Sometimes if your internet or wifi connection is poor you may get intermittent access that slows down access to questions. Save your answers frequently when this appears to be happening by using the “Save” button at bottom of survey page.

Email  NLGSurvey@INSITEConsultancy.com or call Paul Gallant, INSITE Consultancy Ltd. at 604.999.9164.
