Donovan Stevens is in the Ganada (Raven) tribe from Wilps Ksim Xsaan.  His Nisga'a name is Mimk'.  Donovan is from the Nisga'a Village of Gitwinksihlkw where he resides with his parents Randy and Allison Stevens.

We thank Donovan's mother Allison for submitting his photo and information.  Here is the proud mother's account of this promising athlete's journey to the NAIG:

Donovan loves BASKETBALL.  He's been playing since he was 10 years old, he was 12 years old when he played for the intermediate division in the All Native Basketball Tournament & has attended ever since with more playing time every year.

Donovan attended the 1st phase of the Regional BC Aboriginal Basketball Camps Oct.18 - 20, 2013. Donovan had the opportunity to showcase his skills & talent with the goal to advance to the Provincial selection camp. We were very happy for Donovan when he received a letter at the end of that weekend stating that he had successfully advanced to the next phase of the Team BC selection process, the Invitational BC Aboriginal Provincial Basketball Camp (phase 2). This camp the final phase of the selection process bringing Donovan one step closer to being named to TEAM BC for the 2014 NAIG in Regina Saskatchewan from July 20 - 27/14.

Donovan attended the second phase in Langley BC Dec. 20 -22/13. Donovan & the rest of the athletes went through a more intense evaluation process. At the end of the camp each athlete met with the coach to review their individual evaluation feedback & were named TEAM BC.

Donovan also had to attend the Western invitational tournament as a practice for the under 14 team BC, which was held in Burnaby @ Douglas College from June 27 - 30/14. In between games @ the tournament they managed to get a couple of practices in at the Friendship Centre downtown Vancouver.

On behalf of Donovan I would like to first thank all of his Ye'e's, Jijji's, Aunties, Uncles & cousins on both sides of his family in Gitwinksihlkw & Laxgalts'ap.  He would also like to thank the Nisga'a Village of Gitwinksihlkw & Nisga'a Lisims Government for all your support & encouragement. A big thank you to the community members of Gitwinksihlkw with our fundraising efforts since the beginning of Donovan's journey to NAIG. We would not have been able to do this alone & for Donovan to have this once in a lifetime experience.

Thank you so much <3

Donovan's Mom.

Congratulations and best wishes at the games Donovan!
