NAIG Series: Robyn Moore, Under 14 Girls Basketball

In the Under 14 Girls Basketball division the Nisga’a Nation is represented by a towering 14 year old Robyn Grace Moore.

“Robyn loves basketball, and has always had a passion since she was 7 years old”, says mother Marietta McKay.  “Now she can finally shoot on the big hoop in the gym with her dad.”

Robyn participated in the Northwest Regional tryouts, phase 1 in Terrace in October 2013, after which she was invited to attend phase 2 with the rest of B.C. in Langley in December of 2013.  At the Langley camp, Robyn took part in 3 intense days of training and at the end learned she was successfully welcomed on to Team B.C. Under 14 Girls Basketball team.

Since she made the team, Robyn has travelled to Kelowna where she spent a weekend training with her team.  Next week, she is off to her final 3-day training camp in Vancouver before the big departure to Regina for the games. “I have been training hard for the last several months and am very eager to play and represent the Nisga’a Nation and B.C.” says a youthful and eager Robyn.

In addition to her personal training, Robyn has been actively fundraising in her home community of Laxgalts’ap with her parents and extends her gratitude to her family, friends and community members for supporting her fundraising efforts.  She also gives thanks to the NLG Sports and Recreation Fund for the assistance to make the several trips to tryouts, training camps and the NAIG possible.

Robyn is Ksim Laxgibuu from Wilp Duuk’.  Her parents are Shaun Moore and Marietta McKay.

Robyn dedicates her participation in the 2014 NAIG to her grandparents, especially her late grandfather Steve Moore, Sr. Her first game is July 20, 2014 against Colorado.

We thank Robyn’s parents for the submission of her information and photo.

Best wishes to you and your team, Robyn!
