Nisg̱a’a Highway Closed Due to Flooding

The Nisga’a Highway is closed between Gingolx and Laxgalts’ap due to a rock slide in the Red Bluff area. It is also closed 15km east of Lax̱g̱alts’ap, in the work zone near London Bridge due to overland flooding.

The Ministry of Transportation’s geotechnical team will be inspecting the Red Bluff area via helicopter this morning in order to assess the damage and determine if crews can safely work in the area to clear the debris.

The water is receding rapidly in the work zone near London Bridge and MoTI hopes to be able to repair the damage and reopen the road there at some point today.

MoTI advises that these two section of the Nisga’a Hwy will remain closed all morning. Update on the road reopening will be announced as soon as it is known.
