November 5, 2015
Laxgalts’ap, BC — On Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Nisga’a Museum, the 2nd Annual Nisga’a Museum Arts Festival was held. This annual event was an opportunity for the Nisga’a Museum to continue to promote the diversity of Nisga’a art, artists, and culture. “The Nisga’a Museum strives to not only promote inclusion and cultural authenticity within the institution’s permanent and temporary exhibitions, public, school and special event programs, we advocate for a multiplicity of voices, both inter-generationally and culturally throughout the museum. Through dialogue, mutual respect for ideas, the honouring and celebration of Nisga’a art, history, culture, and tradition, we reflect the changing and diverse communities that we serve.”
The Nisga’a Museum’s 2nd Annual Arts Festival was a huge success thanks to the support of the Nisga’a Lisims Government, Village Governments, Simgigat and Sigidim Haanak’, artists, cultural dance groups, Majagaleehl Galts’ap /K’alii-Aks -- Concert Band(s), Elders, Storytellers, Ksi Xýans Daycare, Nisga’a Employment Skills and Training, Canada’s First Nations Radio, Skipp Designs, Silvertip Promotions & Signs, Sight and Sound, Save-On Foods. “On behalf of the Nisga’a Museum Advisory Committee and our staff team we are both proud and thankful for individual, organizations, businesses, village governments, and nation support for the success of the 2nd Annual Nisga’a Museum Arts Festival 2015,” notes museum curator Zora McMillan.
