Re: Criminal Record Checks

For those wishing to be nominated in the upcoming 2008 National Election, the Nisga'a Elections Regulation states:

Section 14 (2)
(b) in order to verify that the person does not have a criminal record
that would disqualify them from standing for the elected office under
section 15(2)(i) to (k) of the Act, file with the Nisga'a Elections
Officer either

(i) a criminal record search report completed within the four months
prior to the nomination meeting and satisfactory to the Nisga'a
Elections Officer,
(ii) or evidence satisfactory to the Nisga'a Elections Officer of
having made application for a criminal record search report within the
four months prior to the nomination meeting, and a solemn declaration
that the person will deliver that criminal record search report to the
Nisga'a Elections Officer immediately upon its completion

* Please contact your local R.C.M.P. Detachment or local Police
