Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • North Coast - inland sections

Snowfall, with total amounts of 20 to 30 cm is expected.
A major storm system approaching the North Coast will allow snow rates to intensify this afternoon. Snow will be heaviest in the Stewart area with amounts up to 30 cm before it transitions to rain overnight. Elsewhere 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected before turning to rain at Kitimat this afternoon and at Terrace this evening. As well a brief period of freezing rain is possible with the transition.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/
