Story: Protecting the Nisga'a Connection to the Oolichan
Working with staff from the Nisga'a Lisims Government Fisheries & Wildlife, Coast Funds has compiled a compelling story detailing the relationship between the Nisga'a nation and the oolichan. NLG undertook a multi-year research project to provide concrete evidence of the fish’s population, support its efforts at conserving the oolichan population, and ensure Nisga’a citizens can continue to harvest the fish each year. The story about the project is availalble on their website, and will be featured in their next issue of Talking Stick, Coast Funds' quarterly publication.
Coast Funds supports First Nations in achieving their goals for sustainable economic development and conservation management in the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii.
