Tahltan - Nisg̱a’a leadership meet to re-affirm alliance
Tahltan President Chad Norman Day, Vice President Heather Hawkins and other Tahltan Central Government senior officials were welcomed to Nisg̱a’a Lands by the NLG Executive on December 20.
The meeting was a first official meeting since the Tahltan – Nisg̱a’a Memorandum of Understanding signing in Gitlax̱t’aamiks on May 3, 2016, which further re-affirmed the historic 1898 peace treaty between the two Nations at Treaty Rock.
The Tahltan and Nisg̱a’a Government’s also expressed a mutual desire to collaborate on the development of a partnership to solidify provisions of the MOU with respect to employment, training, contracting and subcontracting initiatives of Nisg̱a’a and Tahltan citizens.
President Clayton and President Day committed to further meetings in the new year including a further re-affirmation celebration at Hoobiyee in Ging̱olx in February.
