Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • North Coast - inland sections

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
An intense storm moving toward the Gulf of Alaska is bringing snow
to Stewart and rain to Kitimat with freezing rain in the Terrace area. Rain will become more widespread overnight as milder air surfaces with winds eventually shifting to the southwest. As a result
about 15 cm of snow is expected at Stewart with several mm of freezing rain likley at Terrace and 20 to 30 mm of rain at Kitimat. Precipitation will ease to showers by Tuesday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/
