Winter Storm Warning in Effect for North Coast Inland Sections

The forecast snowfall amounts for the day have been increased (15-25 cm) We are also encountering freezing rain/ice pellets. Environment Canada has issued the following winter storm warning:

“Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
 A frontal system moving through the North Coast will spread 15 to 25 cm of snow before the snow tapers off late this evening. Periods of freezing rain are also expected before the front exits the region. Poor travel conditions are expected along Highway 37 and Nisga'a Highway (Highway 113).

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.”
