National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada

December 6 marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada (see proclamation).  The National Day of Remembrance was established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada to mark the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l’Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.

Movember at NLG!

Mustaches were in abundance at NLG during the month of November!  The Department of Resource Enforcement spearheaded the "Movember" initiative to encourage any gents (or anyone!) to grow a mustache with the purpose of bringing awareness to men's health issues. A number of NLG employees took part in Movember, and at a lunch sponsored by DRE on November 30, the top 3 winners were annouced.

Opportunity: Gitwinksihlkw Salvation Army Food Share

The Gitwinksihlkw Salvation Army Food Share works in the spirit of Sayt K'il'im Goot to provide assistance and relief to the residents of the Nass Valley. “The Food Share is similar to a Food Bank, but is culturally sensitive to the Nisga'a Nation,” says Pastor Damien Azak, who runs the Food Share along with his wife, Erica.
