Story: Protecting the Nisga'a Connection to the Oolichan

Working with staff from the Nisga'a Lisims Government Fisheries & Wildlife, Coast Funds has compiled a compelling story detailing the relationship between the Nisga'a nation and the oolichan. NLG undertook a multi-year research project to provide concrete evidence of the fish’s population, support its efforts at conserving the oolichan population, and ensure Nisga’a citizens can continue to harvest the fish each year.

Last night the NLG Interim Nisg̱a’a language & Culture Authority held the first of seven community consultations in Gitmaxmak’ay. Approximately 25 were in attendance at the Nisg̱a’a Hall. It was good to see the Gitmaxmak’ay youth taking part in this consultation.

BC Parks - Call for Artists

BC Parks is seeking an artist to paint the front of the Nisga’a Memorial Lava Bed Park Visitor Centre to honour the memory of the Nisga’a who perished in the eruption.

Expanding Traditions program at the Nisga’a Museum.
