Movember at NLG!

Mustaches were in abundance at NLG during the month of November!  The Department of Resource Enforcement spearheaded the "Movember" initiative to encourage any gents (or anyone!) to grow a mustache with the purpose of bringing awareness to men's health issues. A number of NLG employees took part in Movember, and at a lunch sponsored by DRE on November 30, the top 3 winners were annouced.

Opportunity: Gitwinksihlkw Salvation Army Food Share

The Gitwinksihlkw Salvation Army Food Share works in the spirit of Sayt K'il'im Goot to provide assistance and relief to the residents of the Nass Valley. “The Food Share is similar to a Food Bank, but is culturally sensitive to the Nisga'a Nation,” says Pastor Damien Azak, who runs the Food Share along with his wife, Erica.
 

Culinary Students Shine on School District No. 92 Professional Development Day

During a Professional Development day for the staff of SD No, 92, the caterers for the day were Grade 12 students in the cooking program. Well done!

Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond meets NLG Executive

Former BC Representative for Children and Youth and current inaugural Director of UBC's Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond was warmly welcomed on to Nisg̱a’a Lands by the NLG Executive November 21st. 

Turpel-Lafond responded to a long-standing invitation of the Executive to provide a presentation on child welfare legislation, based on her expertise and many years of service as a renowned child and youth advocate.
