A mild and wet Pacific frontal system will remain over the central coast until Saturday evening. As the mild Pacific air meets the cold airmass currently over inland sections, heavy snow is expected today. Heavy snow is expected to change to freezing rain later this morning in the Kitimat area and then to rain this afternoon. The freezing rain may move into the Terrace area this afternoon. Only snow is expected in the Stewart area with lesser amounts around 15 cm. Heavy rain is also forecast for Kitimat tonight and Saturday with up to 75 mm of rain expected. Heavy rainfall is forecast for both the coastal and inland sections of the central coast as the front remains stalled over the area, potentially right through Saturday evening. The storm totals are forecast to be 150 to 200 mm of rain for Central Coast - coastal sections and up to 75 mm of rain for Central Coast - inland sections.
