PUBLIC EDUCATION FORUM

ON

TSUNAMI PREPAREDNESS

Representatives from Emergency Management BC and Environment Canada will be in the Nass Valley to deliver a public education forum focused on tsunami preparedness.

WHEN:                Wednesday November 6, 2013

                             7:00pm – 9:00pm

WHERE:               Laxgalts’ap Community Centre – Laxgalts’ap

FOR:                    All Nass Valley Residents

As public interest in tsunami continues due to the 2011 Japan tsunami, the 2012 Haida Gwaii tsunami and the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Great Alaska tsunami this March 27th, we would like to help encourage coastal residents to take action to prepare for tsunamis.

Teron Moore, Seismic Specialist with EMBC will deliver a brief “Tsunami 101” presentation introducing the basic concepts of the hazard as well as preparedness actions to ready community members for a future tsunami.

The session would continue with a question and answer period in which the audience can ask questions about tsunamis to the speakers and to local government officials.

Coffee and refreshments will be served!

When:
Wednesday, November 6, 2013 - 19:00 to 21:00
