Addressing Racism: An independent investigation into Indigenous-specific discrimination in B.C. health care

In support of the current investigation being conducted by Mary-Ellen Turpel-Lafond on behalf of the Province of BC we provide the following information from her team:

Addressing Racism, the Independent Investigation into Indigenous-specific Discrimination in B.C. Health Care.

...

This independent investigation is being led by former judge and B.C. Representative for Children and Youth Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond. She was appointed by B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix in June to lead the investigation.

Earlier this month, the investigation launched a survey, asking First Nations, Metis and Inuit people living in B.C. to share their experiences when accessing health care.

If you’ve already completed the survey, thank you. If you haven’t, there is still time. The survey deadline has been extended to Aug. 6, 2020.

You can find the survey here: https://feedback.engage.gov.bc.ca/189465?lang=en

If you have a specific incident of racism or discrimination in health care that you would like to report to the investigation, you can do so by calling the investigation’s toll-free line at 1-888-600-3078.

Or you can send the investigation team an email at addressing_racism@gov.bc.ca

The investigation is independent of government and your information will be kept confidential.
