BEHIND THE SHIELD | The blessing and naming of the Nisga'a Guardian and Siwineeks Nisga’a.

On Friday, May 12, 2023, The Emergency Response Services Department of Nisga’a Lisims Government teamed up with the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services(EDS), and conducted a blessing ceremony for a service truck that will support the Nisga’a EDS team, and for the Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary Search and Rescue vessel. Elders from the community of Gitwinksihlkw carried out the cultural protocols and the ceremonial blessing. The name of the vessel is Nisga’a Guardian, and the name of the truck is Siwineeks Nisga’a.
