CAMPFIRE BAN RESCINDED
OPEN FIRE BAN RESCINDED
Effective Friday September 18, 2015, campfires and open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
The following activites will be allowed:
-
campfires (no larger than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide)
A courtesy notice to residents of Gitlaxt'aamiks and nearby surrounding area that blasting may occur over the weekend - September 11 - September 13. A road building crew is working on re-routing a logging road on the Vetter Forest Service Road.
BC Hydro will be conducting a Vegetation Maintenance program on Circuit AYH 2551 from the Nass River Bridge to Laxgalts'ap. The maintenance contract has been awarded to Great Bear Forest management out of Terrace and the supervisor is Craig Konst.
The Terrace Standard reports that the government of BC is looking at increasing penalties, fines, and other prohibitions for those who engage carelessly in activities that could cause forrest fires. Read the story at this link:
NISGA’A LANDS OPEN FIRE BAN & CAMPFIRE BAN
July 2, 2015
In order to limit the risk of starting forest fires, effective immediately July 2, 2015 all open fires and camp fires is prohibited within Nisga’a Lands.
The following will also be prohibited:
-
the use of outdoor stoves and any other portable campfire apparatus that is not CSA-approved or ULC-approved
-
the use of fireworks, firecrackers, tiki torches, sky lanterns, chimineas and burning barrels

NLG has been marketing a portion of Nisga'a Salmon each year since 2000. NLG is currently seeking a Partner or Partners with whom to maximize the sales value and net profits of Nisga'a Salmon that NLG determines will be harvested for the purpose of the sale by the Nisga'a Nation ("the Project").
