POSITION: Administrative Review Officer
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
SUPERVISOR: Chairperson, Nisga’a Administrative Decision Review Board
HOURS: 35 hours per week TERM: Full-time Permanent LOCATION: New Aiyansh,BC
JOB SUMMARY: Acting as intake Officer for the complaints. Acting as Administrator for the Board. Acting as gatekeeper for the Review Process.
Providing informal assistance to resolve the complaints when appropriate. Acting as the informal and formal information disseminator for the Board.
DUTIES:
- Disseminating information respecting a review under the Nisga'a Administrative Decisions Review Act;
- Assisting Nisga'a Citizens that request a review under this Act;
- Requesting and providing the relevant records for the decision maker responsible for making the decision being reviewed under this Act;
- Making a preliminary assessment under Section 23(1) of the Act, as to whether the complaint is frivolous, without merit or based upon a technical irregularity;
- Making a review report to the Panel as required under Section 9 of the Act;
- Acting as Administrator for the Board;
- Providing a written report to NLG Executive annually, regarding the nature of the complaints and the incidence of complaints filed, how the complaints were resolved or referred, and making recommendations to minimize the re-occurrence of complaints filed under this Act,;
- Preparing and filing an Annual Report as required under section 23 of the Act.
- Performing any other function that the Executive specifies, that are not inconsistent with the Officer’s function under this Act.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum Business Administration diploma, degree preferred.
- Human Service Worker or other relevant diploma or degree may be considered
- Dispute Resolution training required. Formal (ie: JIBC) Program Certification highly preferred or willingness to obtain, required
- Working knowledge of Nisga'a Governance required
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
- Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences in often stressful or challenging situations is essential
- Ability to prepare reports and make presentations required
- Experience preparing and managing annual operating budgets required
- Experience developing and delivering annual work plan required
- Computer knowledge and ability to utilize standard Microsoft Office suite of applications is required
- Strong aptitude for learning is essential as is the willingness to complete ongoing professional development
- Knowledge and understanding of Nisga'a Culture and the Nisga’a Treaty highly preferred
Other:
The successful candidate will be required to have/complete/provide:
- A valid BC Drivers’ license with recent drivers’ abstract
- Three recent work related references;
- The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal record check.
