Michael Morven is from the Laxsgiik tribe and hails from Wilps Hleek'. Michael's mother is Cynthia Morven from Gitlaxt'aamiks but resides in Terrace, BC. 

Michael would like to extend his gratitude for the love and support: 

"I started playing basketball in the 7th grade just for fun, I didn’t fully invest myself until the 10th grade when I first made the 16u team for NAIG I realized what I could do if I applied myself. After COVID hit all of my progress was set back completely, which sent me to a dark space for a while. That was until I met my trainer Terry Monture, who helped me improve my game and kept me motivated during my injury. Since then I’ve been training with him and his son non stop, I’ve improved a lot but there’s still so much more to learn from them. I’d like to thank all of the friends and family who took time out of their days to help me get to Halifax, and another big thanks to NLG for their support, I appreciate you all deeply."
