Ksi Lisims LNG Project Update

I am pleased to advise that Ksi Lisims LNG,  a major project being co-developed by the Nisga’a Nation, has submitted a Detailed Project Description to the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office and an Export Licence application to the Canadian Energy Regulator. While we are still in the early stages of assessment and engagement, these small steps forward are important milestones.

The work undertaken by the Nation and our officials has contributed significantly to reaching this point and I am very thankful to our staff and technical team for their hard work.

As many of you know already, this has also enabled us to more directly engage with Nisga’a Citizens through in-person sessions in our communities. We will continue to seek your input and feedback every step of the way during this process to ensure that our concerns and priorities are appropriately incorporated into the project development and assessment. Our goal has been to inform and engage all Nisga’a Citizens in this important process early, to ensure we do the hard work upfront when it can be most beneficial. Allow me to express my gratitude to all of the Nisga’a Citizens who have taken the time to provide their valuable input and share their views. The Executive of the Nisga’a Nation is looking forward to receiving regular reports on what is being raised by our Nation.

We still have two communities to visit in-person during this (now 3rd) round of engagement: we will provide updated dates for Gingolx and Gitlaxt’aamiks as soon as we secure a venue with the Village Governments as these had to be rescheduled due to deaths in the communities.

Enclosed please find the News Release on behalf of the project.

Eva Clayton

President of the Nisga’a Nation
