Office of the President | Honouring truth, healing together: A message of hope for National Truth and Reconciliation.

On September 30, 2025, we join as the Nisg̱a’a Nation with communities across Canada in solemn recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Day and the “Every Child Matters” campaign. Today is a day of remembrance, truth-telling, and collective healing. As Nisg̱a’a, we know the strength of our culture, our language, and our traditions. These are gifts our ancestors carried forward despite the attempts to erase them.

We pause to honour the children who never made it home, the survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities forever impacted by this painful legacy. We wear orange in solidarity, and we commit ourselves to listening, learning, and supporting healing within our communities.

This year’s theme “Hluut’uxwumhl Kuba-tk’ihlkw – We Cherish the Children,” lets keep our loved ones close; we will continue to lobby for a high standard of excellence for our children’s education that our grandmothers and grandfathers fought hard for.

Let us walk together in truth, guided by the wisdom of our Elders, and continue the important work of reconciliation – not only today, but every day. In the spirit of Sayt Kil̓im G̱oot, we are stronger together.

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
