Canada Builds for the Future: Spotlight on the Northwest Critical Conservation Corridor

Prime Minister Carney’s announcement marks an exciting milestone for Canada’s sustainable future. The second tranche of Nation Building projects is officially underway, and at the heart of this initiative is the Northwest Critical Conservation Corridor — formerly known as the Golden Triangle — now recognized on the map as national significance and opportunity to strengthen partnerships.

The KSM Project: A Global Leader in Critical Minerals

At the core of this corridor lies the KSM Project, home to one of the world’s largest undeveloped deposits of critical minerals. With 7.3 billion pounds of copper and 47.3 million ounces of gold in proven and probable reserves, KSM represents a cornerstone for Canada’s resource security. Backed by an approved Environmental Assessment, we are ready to move forward responsibly and help secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Partnerships That Power Progress

Our success is rooted in strong, respectful partnerships. We are proud to work alongside:

  • Nisga’a Nation and Tahltan Nation in leadership roles,
  • Capacity funding agreements with the Gitxsan and Tsetsaut Skii Km Lax Ha,
  • A Wilp Sustainability Agreement with the Gitanyow,
  • And close collaboration with communities across Northwest BC.

Together, we are advancing development that honors culture, protects the environment, and delivers shared prosperity.

OFFICE OF THE CEO

Andrew Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of Nisga’a Lisims Government, shares his perspective on today’s progress:

“Seabridge Gold and the Nisga’a Lisims Government representative meeting today about the KSM Project update, partnerships, and a good start to collaboration, always a pleasure to have the KSM leadership team on Nisga’a Lands engaging in discussion about the rollout of the KSM projects, and the continued good work they do in advancing this project to fruition for the Northwest of BC.”

Nisga’a Lisims Government along with the Tahltan Nation share with the Prime Minister Carney’s enthusiasm for the region’s economic excellence:

“We look forward to the continued potential for growth in the Golden Triangle. Amazing work by the Seabridge Gold family on their continued development and growth with us as Nisga’a.”

Why It Matters

The Northwest Critical Conservation Corridor is more than a resource hub — it’s a blueprint for responsible development. By combining environmental stewardship with economic opportunity, Canada is building a future where sustainability and growth go hand in hand.

The KSM Project and the Northwest Corridor will lead the way.
