POSITION: Administrative Support
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Experience and Qualifications
SUPERVISOR: Director of Language and Culture
HOURS: 35 hours per week TERM: Full-time Permanent LOCATION: New Aiyansh, B.C.
JOB SUMMARY: Provides administrative support to the Language and Culture Directorate and works in conjunction with the organization in assisting staff in carrying out meetings, events, activities, and projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be the first point of contact to Directorate staff for village governments, community organizations, entities and citizens;
  • Provide staff support for the activities of the Language and Culture Directorate
  • Provide awareness about the status of Nisga’a language and promote speaking and learning Nisga’a;
  • Assist with coordination of Council of Elders and Language and Culture Authority gatherings, meetings of the Simgigat, language
    symposiums and other workshops and meetings; including the processing of point form proceedings that align with agenda items;
  • Assist in the coordination of zoom language learning sessions,
  • Operates or performs standard office duties such as producing general office written or electronic correspondence, filing, printing and
    copying, scan and send, handling a variety of office equipment, and observing proper procedures to process records and forms such
    as purchase order, travel claims and advances or other;
  • Various administrative tasks as assigned to support Directorate;
  • Operates in a climate of confidentiality requiring discretion;
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Experience:
  • Post Secondary training as Certified Office Assistant or in Business Administration an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years in related Administrative Assistant/Support position required.

    Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient level of fluency of the Nisga’a language and culture;
  • Proficient use of standard Microsoft Office, Filemaker Pro, iCloud, DropBox, Adobe sign and other applications is required;
  • Ability to multi-task and to complete tasks in a timely fashion;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with attention to detail required;
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required;
    The successful candidate will be required to complete/provide:
  • 3 recent work related references;
  • Valid B.C Driver’s License will be considered an asset;
  • Criminal Records Check may also be required by the successful candidate
  • Transportation
