Re:         2- moose killed on Cranberry (Nass FSR)

NLG Compliance & Enforcement is seeking public assistance:

On the early morning of January 05, 2026, our office received a report of 2 dead moose on the Nass FSR (Cranberry), NLG C&E officers quickly responded to find 1 Cow carrying 1 fetus and 1 female calf shot and left on the road at 27.5km mark of the Nass FSR.

(these moose have been salvaged and donated for upcoming cultural purposes and an elders food share program)

If you have any information or seen anything from around January 04 10pm to January 5 8am, please call 250-633-3082 or submit an online report.

While killing a cow moose is unethical and illegal, it does impact the moose population immensely over the years.

  • Birth Rate: Adult females typically produce 1 to 2 calves per year.
  • Lifetime Production: A single cow may contribute an estimated 10–15 calves over her lifetime
