SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Experience and Qualifications

SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

HOURS: 35 hours per week TERM: Full-Time Permanent LOCATION: New Aiyansh, BC

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Nisga’a Lisims Government (NLG) Executive Director, the Manager oversees the daily operation of the Nisga’a Employment Services and Training (NEST) department. The Manager ensures the successful delivery and reporting of the NEST programming and the ISET funding agreement and other labour market programming funding as necessary. Supervising and managing a team, the Manager ensures that the Nisga’a Nation receives programs and services successfully within the designated service area. In conjunction with program duties the Manager will provide technical advice to Nisga’a Nation projects involving employment and contracting.

Responsibilities:

  • Strictly adheres to all terms, conditions and deliverables as defined in the FFA, Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ISETS) Funding Agreement, or other funding agreements, in the delivery of the NEST programming;
  • Oversees and manages all aspects of design, delivery and operations of the NEST department;
  • Supervises NEST Staff to ensure delivery of programs and services in accordance with the funding agreement(s) and other ESDC guidelines;
  • Facilitates and supports creative problem solving with respect to delivery of labour market programming to the Nisga’a Nation;
  • In conjunction with the NLG Chief Financial Officer prepares all required financial reporting in accordance with the funding agreement(s) for submission by the NLG Executive Director to the funders;
  • Prepares all required program reporting with the support of NEST staff and in accordance with the funding agreement(s) for submission by the NLG Executive Director to the funders;
  • Seeks other sources of funding to augment or enhance NEST programming;
  • Travel as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Management, or relevant field highly preferred;
  • A combination of education and directly related management experience in funded program delivery may be considered;
  • Relevant and demonstrated program delivery of Employment related Service programs is required;
  • Strong working knowledge of the Nisga’a Treaty, ESDC and Service Canada, WorkBC;
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, written and verbal communication skills including an ability to make presentations and communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences;
  • Demonstrated professionalism, judgement, diplomacy, tact, and sound decision making ability;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Knowledge of the Nisga’a language and culture is preferred;
  • Must have a valid BC Driver’s license with current driver’s abstract.
