Nisga'a Law-Making Authority

The Nisga’a Nation has the right to self-government and the authority to make laws. Under the Treaty, Nisga’a Government has the authority to pass laws on a broad range of matters. At the same time, Nisga’a lawmaking authority is concurrent with federal and provincial authority. Wilp Si’ayuukhl Nisga’a is the 36-member legislative body responsible for considering and passing Nisga’a Lisims Government laws.

Please note, Nisga’a Lisims Government is in the process of making available all current versions of Nisga’a law on this new site, so not all Nisga'a laws and regulations enacted by Nisga’a Lisims Government are presently listed in the sections which follow.   For more information, please contact the Legislative Assistant Myrle Morven at 250 633 3000 or email at myrlem@nisgaa.net
