POSITION: Capital Projects Summer Student
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
SUPERVISOR: Capital Administrator
HOURS: 35 hours per week TERM: Seasonal – Term LOCATION: New Aiyansh, BC
JOB SUMMARY: The Capital Projects Summer Student position is a temporary position intended specifically for high school student or post-secondary students who are interested in gaining work experience. The primary responsibilities are to support the duties of the Capital Administrator and Directorate of Capital, Housing and Facilities Operations with administrative tasks to support capital projects in planning and filing of current and existing projects. The Capital Projects Summer Student should enjoy working in teams, have excellent communication and data management skills, is highly professional and aligned with Nisga’a Lisims Governments core values and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely and provides administrative support to the Administrator to:

  • Monitors budgets for all capital projects and requests budget transfers as needed. Prepares, processes and indexes all capital fund budget
    adjustments.
  • Processes encumbrance transactions and pay requests for all construction projects.
  • Establishes budgets for all new capital projects. Monitors and processes close-outs for all completed projects.
  • Monitors NLG & CFC Capital revenues and requests reimbursements for NLG & CFC funded capital projects.
  • Assists the Directorate with preparation of Quarterly Reports, Budget Document information, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report schedules
    and work papers, monthly cash flow report, and other Financial Reports as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains list of land purchases/sales and processes all payments for land.
  • Maintains NLG & CFC capital procedures manual.
  • Monitors software problems and assists the Directorate with program issues.
  • Assists the Directorate with Building and Land Fixed Asset Inventory and year end Construction in-Progress tracking.
  • Maintains capital and construction project accounting files and oversees scanning process.
    EDUCATION OR OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a High School or Post-secondary student or graduate;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and manage a workload including concurrent multi-initiatives with changing deadlines;
  • Highly organized and structured with a clear attention to detail;
  • Familiar with standard computer applications for business;

    The successful candidate will be required to have/complete/provide:
  1. A valid BC Drivers’ license, required;
  2. Three recent work related references;
  3. The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal record check.
