President’s Message to the Nisga’a Nation on Remembrance Day

SIMGIGAT, SIGIDIM—HAANAḴ’, K’UBA WILKSIHLKW G̱ANHL TX̱AA-N̓ITKWSHL K’UBATK’IHLKW. Chiefs, Matriarchs, Nisga’a youth far and wide, my heartfelt prayers to all those in hospital and condolences to the families who are grieving at this time.

Today, on Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in times of war and peace. Their commitment ensured the freedoms we hold dear and the opportunities we enjoy as a self-governing nation.

As Nisga’a, we understand the deep meaning of protecting our land, our people, and our way of life. We remember not only the soldiers who fought on distant shores but also the families who bore the weight of their absence and the communities that carried forward their legacy.

Let us take this day to reflect on the values of respect, resilience, and unity. May we teach our children the importance of remembrance and continue to walk together in peace, guided by the strength of our ancestors and the vision of a brighter future.

All Nisga’a citizens, all Canadians—thank you for joining in this solemn observance. Together, we honour the past and uphold the hope for generations to come.

With respect and gratitude,
Eva Clayton
President, Nisga’a Lisims Government
