A planned and scheduled power outage will occur for residents of Laxgaltsap and Gingolx. At the same time the highway will be closed on Wednesday July 18, 2012 between the hours of 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the Diksangiik Bridge Site.

This is necessary in order to facilitate Hydro final relocation of hydro poles at the construction site.

The project is expected to be completed, paved, & open for use by the public as at July 27, 2012.

Effectve immediately, July 13, 2012, until further notice, all open burning is prohibited within Nisga'a Lands. This measure is undertaken to limit the risk of starting forest fires.

This prohibition does not apply to areas regulated by village government burning laws.

Where village or regional bylaws are in place governing the use of open fire or smoke management; contact those authorities for more information before starting a fire.

These restrictions are published under the authority of Section 57 (3)(a)(i) of the Nisga'a Forest Act.

After a rock slide at approximately 11:00am yesterday, the Nisga'a highway at Lava Lake re-opened to two lane traffic just after 5:00pm.

Heavy snowfall up to 20 cm and freezing rain expected in the Terrace to Kitimat area today. Additional snowfall amount up to 20 cm near Terrace tonight. Rainfall amount up to 75 mm near Kitimat tonight and Saturday. This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are expected or occurring in these regions. Nechako Northcoast has scheduled road maintenance on Kalum Lake Road 3.875 km north of the intersection of 16 & Kalum.

There will be no traffic flow at this work zone between 9:30am to 3 :OOpm however a detour will be available on Dover, Merkley, Johnston, Eby and Halliwell.
