Nisga’a Ts’amiks, Hoobiyee 2011

Greetings,

The Nisga’a Community of Ts’amiks has for the last number of years hosted a Hoobiyee Celebration, because many of our family and friends cannot make the trip home every year for the annual celebrations in the Nass, each February our community comes together and hosts a two day celebration with friends of our Nation.

This year is no different, we are proud to announce that we are hosting this two day celebration at our neighbour’s community hall. The Chief Joe Mathias Recreation Centre, 100 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, BC, February 4-5, 2011. We are also very pleased to have our brothers and sisters from Git MaxMak’ay join us for this celebration.

On this years agenda we have, the Git Hayats{People of the Copper Shield}, Lax Kaien {Ts’imshian}, Rainbow Creek{Haida}, Iswalhl {Mount Currie}, Squamish Nation, Git MaxMak’ay Nisga’a Dancers, Kwhlii Gibaykw Traditional Nisga’a Dancers and The Chinese Lion Dancers.

Ts’amiks is very happy to host this event; our volunteers are ready and willing to make the best of the weekend. One of the highlights of this weekend will be after the Hoobiyee Celebration where the two Nisga’a Dance Groups will team up and march in the Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade on Sunday February 6th.
