Volunteer Training - Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program:

  • is a free health education workshop¬†offered by the University of Victoria, Centre on Aging;
  • Pairs of trained volunteer leaders deliver the six session workshop to groups of people who have chronic health conditions and their caregivers.

CDSMP Volunteer Leader Training

  • You do NOT need to be a health professional to lead the workshop. Many of our volunteer leaders have chronic conditions themselves.
  • To become a certified volunteer leader, you must attend the four-day Volunteer Leader Training.
  • The leader training and the detailed Leaders manual are provided at no cost.
  • As a volunteer leader, you will be able to use the skills you have learned to help people help themselves to manage their daily challenges.

The next volunteer leader training will be held in Prince Rupert from March 30 to April 2 at Cornerstones Wellness Centre, #3 - 222 3rd Ave. West.
