SALARY RANGE:

SUPERVISOR: Financial Controller

HOURS: 35 hrs/wk

TERM: Full-time
Permanent

LOCATION: New Aiyansh, B.C.

 

JOB SUMMARY: Within Fiscal Authority guidelines, in
accordance with GAAP and as directed by the Financial
Controller, processes prepares the payroll for staff of the Nisga'a Lisims Government, calculates and
distributes Executive Fees and administers the benefits program.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

1) High school diploma required;

2) Business focused post secondary training
an asset;

3) 2 years of experience working in a
computerized business office.

 

EXPERIENCE:

1) Familiarity with Microsoft Office-Excel;

2) Familiarity with Accpac an asset.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Prepares the payroll for NLG staff

  • Receives,
    compiles and verifies timesheets, sick pay and leave applications and enters
    into ACCPAC;
  • Verifies
    and ensures that Receiver General and benefits vendor charges and premiums are
    processed and expenses distributed;
  • Prepares
    EFT uploads to the bank for electronic payroll deposits on timely basis, each
    pay period;
  • Generates
    manual payroll cheques;
  • Prepares
    payroll reconciliations;
  • Prepares
    calendar year end employee T4s and Records of Employment;
  • Ensures
    payments to all regulator bodies & service providers;
  • Enters
    pension distribution and forwards to service provider
  • Ensures
    all relevant data is filed appropriately and in a timely fashion;

2) Administers the benefits program

  • Ensures
    all new employees are registered for benefits
  • Distributes
    benefit materials and explains plans to employees
  • Reconciles
    premium invoices, processes for payment and forwards to AP
  • Liaises
    with carriers and agents on behalf of employees regarding individual

claims.

3) Assists with year end audit preparations;

4) Maintains and administers personnel records
for all staff;

  • Securing
    all personnel files;
  • Ensure
    completeness of all files;

5) Act as backup to other Finance team members;

6) Other duties as may be assigned.
