SALARY RANGE:       Commensurate with Qualifications

SUPERVISOR:           Economic Development Manager

HOURS:                      Term 1 year - 30.0 hrs per week

LOCATION:                 New Aiyansh, British Columbia

 

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:  The aim of the Community Coordinator Position is to act as the key contact in the community to assist job seekers, Aboriginal businesses, the Design Build Contractor and other employers to match candidates with work opportunities on the construction of the NTL Project. The Community Coordinator will also provide the overall linkages for effective community engagement, relationship and information sharing that are necessary to enable the fulfillment of the Employment, Training and Procurement Plan 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES;

  1. Endeavor to identify and foster external partnerships Coordinator provides advice and a community perspective on matters relating to training and employment opportunities on NTL;
  2. Enhance and sustain the Employment, Training and Procurement Plan;
  3. Provides timely employment and training information to First Nations job seekers;
  4. Identifies and screens suitable and qualified candidates for employment and training opportunities related to the NTL project;
  5. Provides employees (candidates that are successfully hired) with assistance on the job, including access to mentoring, training, tools and equipment.
  6. Assists the Design Build contractor and other sub-contractors that have hired First Nation community members with job retention of the employees and workplace skills development;
  7. Will be a resource for both the employees and the employers if workplace issues or concerns arise on the job;
  8. Will meet and exchange information regularly with an identified member of the NTL project team (frequency to be determined).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Some Post Secondary Education or training in a relevant discipline (e.g., human services) or equivalent education/training and experience.
  • At least two years of experience managing administrative functions;
  • Sensitivity toward Nisga‚Äôa culture;
  • Experience in accounting processes and budget development and monitoring process;
  • Experienced in submitting reports to Boards and/or funding agencies;
  • Proficiency with computers and software including accounting programs, word processing, and data base development and maintenance;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of Nisga‚Äôa Language and culture would be an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational abilities, strong problem solving skills and high degree of accuracy office management or project management; 
  • Drivers License ‚Äì Class 5 required.
