Fisheries Technician - Boat Operator

POSITION:                   Fisheries Technician (Boat Operator)
SALARY RANGE:         Commensurate with qualifications
SUPERVISOR:              Fisheries Manager
HOURS:                       Seasonal (Part time) (Averaging Agreement)
LOCATION:                New Aiyansh, British Columbia

 NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:  The Nisga‚Äôa Fisheries Program includes yearly research and monitoring of fish stocks and habitat.  This position is for small vessel operation on the Nass River in the area from Sandy River to Kincolith. The boat will be based in Greenville, BC.  As with all positions require adequate rain gear and the ability to collect and record accurate fisheries data.

IMPACT OF ERROR:  The impact or error is significant to the Nation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

1.Grade 11 or higher education;
2.Previous fisheries experience is an asset;
3.Boat handling skills;
4.Outboard motor and boat maintenance skills;
5.Reliable transportation to and from work;
6.Valid Level 1 First Aide Ticket is an asset;
7.Valid SVOP and MED A3 certification is required.
