JOB SUMMARY: This is a great opportunity to develop a career path in human resources with supportive training from the employer. Seeking serious applications willing to make long term commitment toward training and employment with Nisga'a Lisims Govvernment (NLG) is desired. On-the-job training, mentoring and coaching will be provided. Attaining a Human Resource Management Certificate and the Cetificate Human Resource Professional (C.H.R.P.) designation will be a condition of employment.  Long term training is identified to assist in developing succession planning initiatives. A personal training plan will be developed with the succesful candidate. This position assists to manage the HR process witha  priority in the Recruitment and Selection environment. Duties are of a highly sensitive nature. This indiviidual will create postings, develop job descriptions and co-ordinate the screening and interview process according to established policies and guidelines; will participate in conducting the interview process, job interview questions, reference checks and necessary follow up required for Criminal Record Checks, conduct new employee orientation processes; assists in managing occupational health and safety related matters of worker's compensation; participate in the development process of policies and procedures, conduct research on various topics related to human resources. This is a position of trust and confidentiality must be upheld. This position is required to uphold the standards and best practices of human resource management.

Educational or Occupational Certification:

  1. Equivalent combination of education and work experience of no less 5 years in a related field as deemed appropiate by the Recruitment Team; or
  2. College Certification in Human Resources Management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Attributes:

  • Developed skills involving administrative processing of documents and proven record management.
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices is an asset;
  • A developed knowledge base of relevant legislation affecting NLG as an employer is desired;
  • Developed skills in managing tasks is a fast paced and often hectic environment daily; must be able to juggle your time and timelines on a daily basis;
  • Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Must be proficient with Word and Excel, with attention to accuracy;
  • Skills and/or knowledge of ACCESS is an asset;
  • Recruitment, Interviewing, Compensation, Training and Development, Payroll, Health & Safety, Benefits, Labor Relations knowledge and experience would be considered a significant asset;
  • Skills in the use of relevant office equipment; fax machine; photocopier, computer is required;
  • Position requires an individual with suitability related to tact, diplomacy and team building traits;
  • Ability and proven experience paying attention to detail and the processing of information;
  • Proven ability to follow proper work procedures, policies and observe al regulations pertinent to the work;
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with other employees and cooperate in attaining a healthy work environment;
  • Criminal Reference and Credit Check is required on the successful candidate;
  • 3 Work Related References will be required;
  • Must be willing to commit to a long term training plan and long term employment with Nisga'a Lisims Government
  • The incumbant will be required to activate membership with the British Columbia Human Resource Management Association as a Student and maintain annual membership fees; (membership fees will be reimbursed).
