LOCATION:                Greenville,
British Columbia

 

JOB SUMMARY:  Provides guidance and
support for clients who meet program criteria, co-ordinate services to provide
alternative criminal justice provisions based on the traditional Nisga'a
approach of counseling; Monitor and administrative duties related to probation
referrals.

 

 

EDUCATION or OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

1.       Human
Services Certificate or equivalent combination of experience    and education;

2.       Mediation
Certificate is an asset;

 

EXPERIENCE:

1.       Minimum
of 5 yrs employment in a related capacity

 

KNOWLEDGE:

1.       Knowledge
of Nisga'a cultural practices and traditional approach of counseling;

2.       Knowledge
of case management practices, documentation and file maintenance;

3.       Knowledge
of the Young Offenders Act and other relative legislations;

4.       Knowledge
of other agency services for client referrals;

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

1.       Computer
skills is necessary;

2.       Ability
to speak and understand Nisga'a an asset;

3.       Public
speaking skills and ability to facilitate or coordinate appropriate support
programs;

4.       Proven
written and verbal communication skills;

5.       Ability
to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and law
enforcement;

6.       Ability
to maintain statistical reports and data;

7.       Ability
to maintain client confidentiality;

 

 

ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:

1.  B.C.
Driver License, Class 5 required; travel is required in order to             accomplish
required duties of the position;

2.  Criminal
Reference Check will be required on the successful candidate;

3.  3
work related references will be required on the successful candidate.
