Vocational-Technical Programs Coordinator
The Wilp Wilxo’oskwhl Nisga’a Institute (WWNI) is a community driven, student focused aboriginal post-secondary institute located in the picturesque Nass Valley of Northern British Columbia. The WWNI offers a variety of adult programs in the following areas: academic, technical, vocational and continuing community education.
The Vocational-Technical Programs Coordinator is responsible for determining the vocational and technical training needs of students in the Nass Valley. The Coordinator will research and recommend to the CEO appropriate and cost-effective vocational-technical courses and programs that can be delivered throughout the year.
Duties:
- Work with institutions in the Nass Valley to identify training needs and the implementation of appropriate programming.
- Research curriculum, resources, accessibility and cost of various courses and programs for delivery.
- Actively seek funding from various entities to support the vocational and technical courses and programs.
- Maintain communication with the various Nisga’a communities in order to determine educational needs, appropriate work plans for courses, and to communicate program offerings clearly and consistently to all interested students.
- Set up and maintain accurate student files.
- Prepare various reports including monthly reports, student statistics, program plans, budgets and a year-end review.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates with a Masters will be given preference.
- Related positive Coordinator experience
- A valid driver’s license
- Candidates must also demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with the Nisga’a Language and culture.
- Experience in dealing with local governments and businesses
