JOB SUMMARY:  The Youth Organizing Youth Coordinator reports to the Director, Programs and Services. This position is to assist the Nisga‚Äôa Advisory Youth Councils (NYAC) of the 4 Nass villages and 3 urban locals in having a voice and developing leadership skills. Secondly, this position will assist them in understanding Nisga‚Äôa governance. This includes ensuring youth councils are aware of Nisga‚Äôa legislation such as the Treaty, FFA and Programs and Services Act. The Coordinator will assist  the councils in understanding the levels of  government  such as NLG, villages and urban locals Building upon the knowledge base, the Coordinator will support  the youth councils with developing their ideas  and encouraging them  to bring forth the their interests and concerns to their local village governments and to NLG by using the Nisga‚Äôa governance processes. Parallel with governance the coordinator will work towards the development of relevant leadership skills of each of the NYAC reps.

EDUCATION or OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

1.  College certificate in Human Services (Youth Worker) or equivalent;

EXPERIENCE:

1.  Minimum of one (1) consecutive year of employment experience working with youth;

KNOWLEDGE:

1.  Knowledgeable on policy development and implementation

2.  Knowledge of social issues impacting Nisga‚Äôa Youth;

3.  Proficient knowledge of various Nisga‚Äôa Legislation;

4.  Understand motivation and be adept at various communication styles.

1.  Written and verbal communication skills;

2.  Strong leadership skills and abilities;

4.  Organization skills;

5.  Ability to integrate and interpret large amounts of information;

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1.  Valid B.C. Driver‚Äôs License is required(successful candidate will be required to provide photocopy of license)‚Äô

2.  Successful candidate must be also willing to submit a criminal records check.

The successful candidate will be required to complete/provide:

  • 3 recent work related references;
  • The successful candidate will provide a current driver‚Äôs abstract and criminal records check;
