Abby Stewart of Gingolx will be the recipient of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety from the Ministry of Justice.

This award, named after Const. Kenneth M. Lemckert, recognizes an individual who has provided exemplary leadership in the area of community policing.  Since 1998, the Ministry has recognized individuals, groups and programs that have made outstanding contributions to their communities by presenting the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Awards.  Led by the Ministry, the recipients of these awards are selected by the provincial Safe Communities Working Group based on nominees submitted by law enforcement, community groups and the general public.  This award is presented to those who has provided exemplary leadership in the area of community policing. 

This good news story is yet another example of the excellent working relationship that has been established with the RCMP under Detachment Commander Donovan Tait’s leadership and the people in the community.

The award ceremony will take place at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre, 4331 Dominion Street on Friday November 2nd, 2012 at the BCCPA Crime Prevention Symposium between 12:30pm ‚Äì 1:45pm.  http://www.bccpa.org/pdf/symposium/2012%20BCCPA%20Symposium%20Program.pdf.   The award is also on occasion presented in the community to the recipient.
